Applications for DirectHaler Pulmonary
Unique manufacturability

Innovative device engineering has for the first time made inhalation device manufacture, assembly and filling a task of reduced complexity.

The DirectHaler™ device tube is manufactured using extrusion and roll forming and the device cap by injection moulding. Each device is made from only 0.6 grammes PolyPropylene – which in combination with high-speed manufacturing processes ensure a competitive unit cost.

The overall extremely straightforward DirectHaler™ manufacturing process – rare in the inhaler market – adds flexibility when it comes to choosing a device supply strategy.

Rational supply chain management
One option for DirectHaler™ technology licensees is to select local suppliers for manufacturing the device components, and keep in house complete filling and packing lines. Such lines could be placed locally for regional supply of the finished product.

Another option is for pharmaceutical companies to take advantage of the straightforward and efficient production process, which allows them to manage device manufacture, filling and packing in house, without the usual contract manufacture and filling link in the supply chain.

Integrated device filling and assembly
Powder-dose filling is carried out using modified high-speed capsule filling equipment supplied by MG2, ensuring high-precision pre-metered doses.

For laboratory scale experiments and clinical trial supplies we have a semi-automatic filling machine, and a larger automatic filling machine for higher quantities.

Cost-effective preparation of clinical trial batches
The DirectHaler™ Pulmonary devices are ready to be supplied in their thousands, and can be filled, sealed and packed for clinical trials using the already established, and easy to transfer, equipment.
